Current Events:
- Frodo has left Bag End and has begun travelling across the Shire with the One Ring.
- The Black Riders have stormed Sarn Ford and driven off the defending Rangers, leaving the Shire open to them.

The leaves have begun to brighten and fall across Middle-Earth as Autumn spreads throughout the land. Chill winds remind northern cities of the coming winter, while in the south the beating sun has been replaced by a pleasant coolness.
